Style It Up: Breathing New Life Into Old Clothes

Are you a little bored of your sweatpants, sweaters, or just your whole closet in general?

We all go through a lull where you look at your closet full of clothes and say to yourself you have nothing to wear. Sometimes what I like to do is mix up unlikely pairings to breath new life into clothes I wear daily, day in and day out. Unlikely pairs show off that daily worn piece of clothing in a new light, so much so you will think you bought new clothes. Check out my list below of commonly bought cozy staples and my suggestions on how to breath new life into them.

Graphic Printed Sweater & Printed Trousers

We all have a cozy crewneck sweater printed with a cute graphic, artwork, cute phrase, or something random. That sweater has seen been around morning, noon, and night. So to complement it's cozy fun feel, why not pair it with printed trousers. The trousers have a tailored fit which contrast the loose sweater nicely. And the print adds a little fun and whimsy to complement the cute graphic you love to sport all day.

Monochromatic Pieces & Subtle Metal

Select a cozy pair of pants and top that are the same color, or similar shade and tint. Next, break up the color with subtle metal accents, my suggestion a pair of earrings and the right pair of shoes. This one color look will look different with the subtle metals popping out throughout the outfit. So rather than looking frumpy in a continuous shade of one color, you break it up with the metal.

Oversized Turtleneck, Pencil Skirt, & Boots

One of the easy ways to update a comfy look is adding something rigid to break it up, so you look put together but relaxed. It's that whole look good without even trying look, you know the kind. Take your oversized turtleneck and pair it with a pencil skirt and casual boots. The boots and turtleneck keep it casual, but the skirt pulls the outfit together.
